Information has hit the web that Apple could launch a number of models, or even the entire future iPhone 14 range, at a price hike of $100 compared to the current 13 series. More details are not yet available. But several scenarios for the upcoming price hike are already being considered. Let’s try to understand the situation and predict further developments.
With this option, everything, at first glance, is clear: to get the price of any iPhone 14, it is enough to add $100 to the cost of a similar model of the previous 13 lineup. But there are suspicions that Apple will have a hard time convincing consumers to pay the extra $100 for a new smartphone.
It is possible that the increase in price will affect the starting price of the future lineup as a whole, which can’t help but increase as the company has decided to drop the iPhone 14 mini. That model will be replaced by the Max, which is as big as the Pro Max, with a 6.7-inch diagonal. But in other respects, it will be simpler than the Pro and Pro Max.
Perhaps it’s worth explaining how these changes to the lineup will affect its starting price. The pre-tax price of the iPhone mini 13 series in the United States is $699, while the standard iPhone 13 model costs $799. If you remove the cheaper mini version and leave the smartphone at $799, which is $100 more expensive, that’s the amount by which the base price of the series will increase. The iPhone Max in the 14 series will cost $100 more than the standard model, meaning it will retain the same price ratio as the latest in the 13 series today.
This is the price increase scenario that looks more logical than the others.
This is another likely version to explain the price hike insights. In essence, it is a continuation of the previous one, i.e. the version about the increase in the starting price. Let’s try to explain how it works. As of today, the price difference between the standard model of the iPhone 13 series and the Pro version is $200. It’s as clear as possible: if you want a smartphone with more features, you’ll have to pay more. In Apple’s frame of reference, $100 is by no means a large sum, as the price difference for the brand’s products could be bigger.
Apple’s next 14 line is announced for September 2022 (perhaps it will get some other special name). It will include the standard model, Max, Pro and Pro Max. The price of the standard iPhone will remain the same, meaning it will be $799, as in the 13 series, while the Max version will have to pay $899. Given the $200 fork, the iPhone Pro will cost $1,099, and another $100 more the future price of the Pro Max model, that is $1,190.
If this prediction holds true, the Max version of the new range will largely outbid the Pro model. So this scenario seems rather dubious, and it has much less chance of materialising than the others.
