iPhone 14

Apple won’t release iPhone 14 in time because of Taiwan? All that’s known so far

The iPhone 14 is only a few weeks away from release, but leaks have already revealed much of what could be coming. According to early reports, the new phone will get a number of significant new features, improvements as well as the removal of some well-known design elements.

Apple is set to release the phone on 7 September along with a host of other products. But here’s all we know about the iPhone 14, as details are really extremely scarce. Apple’s exterior design could get a significant update in the upcoming smartphone. While the iPhone 14 will retain the flat sides and curved rectangular shape that it currently has, it could lose other features as well.

Some details about the appearance

Numerous reports suggest that Apple has finally got rid of the cutout at the top of the display in the new devices. Instead, all the components hidden there – the facial recognition sensor and front-facing camera – have moved to a small cutout at the top of the screen, allowing the display to rise all the way up. This redesign may only be retained for Pro models.

Rumour has it that regular iPhones could have the same notch as the iPhone 13. Otherwise, the design is expected to remain largely the same. There may be some changes, such as the positioning of the camera lenses, but the same rough design will remain.

Internal specifications

Inside, the phones may change less than usual. Some new features will appear. For example, according to one rumour, only Pro models should get the new A16 chip, while non-Pro models will remain on the A15 iPhone 13. And in any case, the A16 may only be a limited improvement on its predecessor.

But Apple could make up for it with an improved camera system. Pro models could get a vastly improved wide-angle camera, which will allow for both larger shots and better images in the dark. According to some rumours, the front lens may also be upgraded.

Features and dimensions

Perhaps the biggest thing for the iPhone 14 may be the always-on display. This is evidenced not only by the numerous rumours, but also by the upcoming iOS 16 release, which appears to include design features designed to make the most of this display, revealing important updates.

The dimensions are also expected to change this year. The Mini is thought to be ruled out, and instead Apple will only offer phones in two sizes. These sizes are likely to be the same as the Pro models: a 6.1-inch regular phone and a 6.7-inch Max. So it will be four phones in two sizes.

Difficulties with the release

The tense political climate in the world has taken its toll. The uneasy relationship between China and Taiwan has also done its part, complicating the production of the new mobile devices, or rather their individual parts.

In Russia, the new products will only be able to get into the territory of Russia by roundabout ways. In terms of software, the question also hangs in the air. Bypassing the sanctions is ruled out, but it is not so easy to find alternative hardware suppliers. It is possible that in the near future there may be information about some postponement of the release date.
